Solihull · two engineers, one standard
A heating firm small enough that you always know which two people are coming.
Solihull Heating is Mark and Chris. Between them they design, install and maintain gas central heating across Solihull and Birmingham — new boilers and full system installations, annual servicing and gas safety checks, breakdowns, power flushing, radiators and unvented hot water cylinders. In the firm's own words: a local, well established business with a wealth of experience, dedicated to providing a professional and reliable service to all of our customers.
The practical difference is who turns up. There is no call centre, no rota of subcontracted vans, and no engineer you have never spoken to. You ring a mobile, you get one of the two people who will be in your airing cupboard, and if something needs a second look afterwards you ring the same number.
Solihull Heating Limited has been a registered company since October 2020, SIC code 43220 — plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation — with Mark O'Flanagan as its director. The work is gas: boiler design, installation and maintenance, with the hot water, controls and pipework that go around it.
What we do
Design. Install. Maintain.
New boilers & full heating systems
Replacement combis, system boilers and complete central heating installations — designed around the house, not around whatever is in the van.
Boiler servicing & gas safety inspections
The annual service that keeps the boiler safe, keeps it efficient and keeps the manufacturer's guarantee alive.
Central heating repair & emergency call-outs
No heating, no hot water, a boiler locked out, a system losing pressure — diagnosed and put back into service as quickly as two engineers can get there.
Landlord gas safety certificates
The twelve-month Landlord Gas Safety Record for rented property, covering every appliance and the pipework, carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Hot water cylinders, vented & unvented
Replacement cylinders, unvented systems and the expansion vessels, valves and discharge pipework that have to be right around them.
Power flushing & system cleansing
A forced clean of the whole heating circuit to shift the magnetite sludge that makes radiators cold at the bottom and boilers kettle.
Why people ring us
Every review names one of us. That is not an accident.
Solihull Heating is two engineers. Mark quotes it or Chris quotes it, the same person fits it, and the same person comes back if it needs a second look. Customers write “installed today by Mark and Chris” because that is literally who was there — not a brand, not a subcontractor, and not whoever the app allocated that morning.
- Two named engineers with their own mobile numbers — ring either one
- Gas Safe registration claimed on the firm’s own site; ask for the ID card at the door and check the number
- New boilers, full systems, cylinders, power flushing, radiators and controls — all in house
- LPG as well as mains gas, for the villages off the grid towards Lapworth and Henley
- Quoted after someone has looked at your actual flue, gas supply and pipework

Registrations
What we tell you we hold — and how to check it yourself.
No badge wall and no registration numbers printed on a website you have no way of verifying. These are the registrations the business states it holds; the right way to satisfy yourself is to ask for the card at the door and look it up on the official register.
Gas Safe Register
Solihull Heating states on its own site that the business is on the Gas Safe Register. Anyone working on gas in your home must be — and every registered engineer carries an ID card with a licence number and an expiry date, listing exactly which appliances they are signed off for. Ask to see it at the door and check it on the Gas Safe Register website. That is the right way to verify any firm, including this one.
Worcester Bosch
The business describes itself as a Worcester Bosch accredited installer and mentions extended manufacturer guarantees of up to twelve years. Worcester boilers are what you will see in most of the photographs on this site. Ask for the guarantee length in writing with the quote — the term depends on the exact model and on the installer's accreditation level.
Solihull Heating Limited
Incorporated 15 October 2020 and active at Companies House under number 12953319, SIC 43220 — plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation. Mark O'Flanagan is the appointed director. A registered limited company is a check anyone can run in thirty seconds before letting a trade into the house.
Annual service records
Almost every manufacturer's guarantee, Worcester's included, depends on the boiler being serviced every twelve months by a registered engineer and the service being recorded. Solihull Heating will book the annual service and keep the record straight, which is what makes the guarantee worth having when something does go wrong in year eight.

How the common jobs are done
Judge the engineer by the reasoning, not the sales pitch.
Every heating job starts with a diagnosis, not a parts list. Here is how four of the most common call-outs around Solihull are approached in practice, so you know what to expect before you ring.

A system that loses pressure overnight
The situation — The gauge reads one and a half bar when you top it up and half a bar three days later. Most people top it up again and carry on, which hides the fault and slowly fills the system with fresh, oxygenated water — the fastest way to corrode radiators from the inside and produce the sludge that makes them cold at the bottom.
How we handle it — Pressure has to be going somewhere: a weeping joint under a floor, a failed expansion vessel, a pressure relief valve discharging quietly outside, or a pinhole in a radiator. The order of the checks matters, and so does the honesty of the answer — a re-charged expansion vessel is an hour's work, while a buried leak is a different conversation and a different quote.

Radiators hot at the top, cold at the bottom
The situation — Classic magnetite. An older steel-and-copper system makes iron oxide continuously; it settles in the bottom of every radiator, collects in the heat exchanger and drags on the pump. The house never quite warms up, the boiler starts kettling, and fitting a new boiler onto the same pipework simply feeds the sludge straight into a brand new heat exchanger.
How we handle it — Clean the circuit before you spend money on the appliance. A power flush pushes cleanser round under pressure to lift the sludge out, the system is dosed with inhibitor afterwards, and a magnetic filter goes on the return to catch what it keeps making. Most manufacturers expect exactly this before a new boiler goes on — there is a filter in nearly every installation photograph on this site.
Worth reading before you ring
Three guides, written to save you a call-out.

Guide 01
Boiler servicing, and what actually happens
What a proper annual service covers, why it is what keeps your manufacturer guarantee alive, the flow-temperature setting most boilers are left on, and the questions worth asking any engineer.

Guide 02
Landlord gas safety, in plain English
What a Landlord Gas Safety Record covers, what counts as an appliance, the twelve-month and 28-day deadlines, what happens when a check fails, and what to keep on file.

Guide 03
Fault finding: what to check before you ring
No heating, no hot water, a locked-out boiler, pressure that keeps dropping, a radiator cold at the bottom — the five-minute checks that sometimes save an hour on the bill.

Three steps, no switchboard and nothing to fill in.
01
Ring, WhatsApp or email
Chris on 07426 026965, Mark on 07979 426404, or the office on 0121 705 8649. A WhatsApp photo of the boiler's data badge and any fault code on the display often answers half the question before anyone sets off. Email info@solihullheating.com if it is not urgent.
02
Someone comes and looks
For a service, a breakdown or a certificate that is the visit itself. For a new boiler or a system change, it is a proper look at the flue route, the gas supply, the pipework and the cylinder — then a written quote based on what is there rather than a number guessed over the phone.
03
Fitted, tested and shown to you
Gas work carried out to the standard a Gas Safe registered engineer has to meet, the system flushed and balanced where it needs it, controls set up with you before anyone leaves, the paperwork and guarantee registration done, and the house left clean.
